Best Gaming Laptop
The best gaming laptop? Tricky question. By the time I’ve written this maybe a better one has come out. You have to realize that technology moves so quickly that you just have to invest in something decent, and hope it lasts for a couple of years before you have to replace it.
If price was no object, the best gaming laptop I pick is: the XSL8-Q9550 by Rock. My dear god, this looks like the ultimate gaming experience on earth, I have chills right now.
Specification of the XSL8:
IntelÆ Coreô 2 Quad (QUAD!) processor, 2.83Ghz, 12MB Cache,
2 * Nvidia Geforce 9800M GTX 1GB (That’s amazing!)
Upgrade to 8GB DDR2 667Mhz RAM (from 4GB),
Upgrade to 3 * 320GB HDD,
Blu-ray ROM and DVD writer,
Upgrade for international digital TV,
Vista ultimate x64 operating system,
and a £60 case to go with it.
This is the best specifications I’ve ever seen on a laptop. And from what I can tell, the best gaming laptop (for now) at approximately $4000.

How you can choose the best gaming laptop for you: The best gaming laptop will have to be a number of things, and this article will be biased because there is no perfect laptop, it’s all just a preference of what options you want to consider.
The weight of the laptop:
I’m not actually too worried about weight, being the strapping young lad I am (cough) I can probably handle any weight on my back. So long as the bag doesn’t rip it should be fine. Take this into consideration when picking your laptop as well.
The size:
I am actually a fan of small laptops, but for gaming I prefer big bulky ones to get the most out of the game play environment. So I would go anywhere up to 25 inches, more than that it would just be getting out ridiculous. On the other hand I would go as low as 16 inches in screen width. The keyboard would have to be big enough for me to get around without hitting the escape button every three seconds. I would prefer using a mouse rather than the scratch pad they come with.
The specifications:
This is what matters more than anything for me personally; I have to have a gaming laptop with no lag whatsoever. If you’re going to invest in a gaming laptop, you may as well go all out. First of all, who are you going to purchase it off, HP? Alienware? Toshiba? Rock? I would go for Alienware or Rock, as they seem to be the most professional and the most specialized in gaming laptops alone. Then there is the most important thing in the system, the GPU (graphical processing unit):
GPU:
I would hope for at least 512MB, preferably Nvidia or ATI because of the reliability you have with a well established company. The GPU is the part that calculates all the algorithms, which is extremely important in gaming.
CPU:
Then you need to think about the CPU, I would hope at least 2.5GHz dual core and then whatever chipset; Personally I would choose Intel for no other reason than I use them all the time, but as I said before I’m going to be biased because the best laptop is in the eye of the beholder!
RAM:
The memory should be at least 2GB, but 4GB is comfortable! This is fairly straightforward, the more the better.
HDD:
The hard disk drive (HDD) hopefully at least 250GB and more if possible, anymore than 1TB would probably be a waste.
OS:
My preferred operating system is Windows XP, but the OS really is just a preference although Windows is pretty much a “must” for gaming; with good hardware it shouldn’t struggle with any settings. Windows 7 will be out of beta soon, and should be great for gaming.
