Cheap and gaming laptops doesn't usually come together very often. But I can give you some advice, so stay right where you are.

Cheap Gaming Laptops

Looking for cheap gaming laptops? Well I’m not promising amazing quality but I can show you a few that might tickle your fancy.

From experience I can tell you that you are not going to find a good gaming laptop for under $800. Although some of the products I show you will be under that price, the majority won’t. So if you are looking for something around $500 then you’re not going to find it. And if you do then I promise you it will be frazzled and can’t play any decent games. Most gaming notebooks I will show you will be between $700 and $1300 (which I consider to be cheap in the gaming world).

Let's See: From Cheapest to...

I’ll start from the cheapest, to keep the people in a rush at bay.

MSI GX610 - $800:

This laptop is quite a shambles, but for the price what can you expect? It is no-where near the technology to play games as detailed as crysis, so don’t even try. It can play call of duty 2 at an average 22 fps, so that’s as far as this laptop goes. Personal opinion: Don’t buy it! Another $400 and you can get an awesome gaming laptop, rather than an under average one. It uses an AMD dual core processor with 2GB of memory, which is good enough for running every day applications.

Toshiba Qosmio F50-10Z - $950:

Big step up from the MSI GX610, but still not the bees knees. The laptop itself looks elegant, with a chrome rim and resolution of 1280 by 800. The specs are also an improvement of the MSI range, with 4GB RAM, 2.26 GHz Intel core 2 duo and Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT. This can impressively achieve approximately 40 frames per second on low resolution playing crysis. For the price of this gaming laptop I am very impressed, it can play all modern games on low settings and has an elegant, sexy look.

Dell XPS M1730 - $999:

The latest gaming notebook offered by the all-popular Dell. The starting price is $999 but most people would probably have add-ons up to $1500. The basic package offers 2.1 GHz core 2 duo, 17 inch monitor, 2 GB memory, 160GB HDD, and Dual GeForce 8700M GT 512MB graphics card. So the specs are quite good, but the notebook is huge, weighing 10 pounds and 2 inches thick. It will be a big pain to travel with. This is a good laptop for the price, but you will end up paying around $1500 for it, because that’s how Dell works.

Rock Pegasus 520 (P520-T6400) - $1100:

Rock is an established gaming laptop business so hopefully this won’t be a let down! The Rock Pegasus has a small screen of 15 inches, and due to this it is lighter and smaller, so easier to carry around. The specs: 2.26 GHz core 2 duo, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB HDD, and NVidia GeForce 9650M GT with 1GB VRAM. The specification seems good, although the CPU isn’t as fast as expected. In the tests, it achieved 17 frames per second on high quality on Crysis, which is extremely good for the price! And a 3-hour battery life is awesome! Rock never seems to let me down, great product for a very good price.

HP Pavilion HDX9320 - $1300:

This is at the top of our affordable budget, and this gaming laptop has been given great reviews. At a reasonable price I decided to delve in some more. It has a huge 20.1 inch screen, big enough to get lost in; unfortunately at the cost of being very heavy and hard to lug around. Its specification is 2.5Ghz Intel core 2 duo, and 4GB memory, pretty sweet. Good news is that it can handle all modern games to date at medium setting, impressive, I’m starting to like it already! It has good battery life compared to most gaming laptops at almost 2 hours under a lot of usage. This, in my opinion, is a great all round laptop. It also happens to be the most expensive, coincidence? I think not.
