Affordable means different things to different people but I'd say that anywhere from $0 to $800.00 is reasonable. Who can't afford $0.00, right?

Affordable Gaming Laptops

One thing gaming laptops tend not to be is affordable. But if you look close enough you can chip away at that price although the stuff you are chipping away at actually makes the laptop perform to a gaming standard. What is “affordable”? Anywhere from $0 - $800 I would hazard a guess at. So if your price range falls between there, then stay put.

Let's Get Started

The MSI GX 630. At $800 it falls at the top end of your budget, but no matter. Let’s see what makes it tick: 2 Ghz AMD Athlon duo processor, 4GB RAM, NVidia Geforce 9600M, and a 15.4” widescreen. If you have no idea what that means, let me explain. It’s above average; the central processing unit (CPU) can do 2 billion instructions per second. Didn’t know that? You learn something new every day. Anyway, that’s pretty fast but nothing spectacular. 4GB RAM on the other hand is a nice chunk of RAM, you don’t need any more than that. The graphics card will run Crysis (high quality game) on high quality settings at 17fps, which isn’t very good. But not many laptops can beat that.

Other Affordable Laptops Include

MSI GX 600,
Everex StepNote XT5000T,
Dell Vostro 1500 ($400!)

If you do want a high performance gaming laptop, you will really need to buy them from $1000 up though.
